The Training Institute of the Welfare Council organised a wide range of training activities to develop the professionalism and inner qualities of our staff and to share our expertise and service experience with different partners.
In terms of nurturing future leaders, one important direction of the Welfare Council is leadership development and the "Servanthood Leadership Development Plan" was launched. By strengthening their theological foundation, professional skills, development workshops and generic skills, staff will go through holistic leadership development experiences.
To encourage staff to continue learning to provide more professional services, the Training Institute has organized various programmes which have been recognized by the Hong Kong Academy of Social Work and the Nursing Council of Hong Kong for relevant professional development credits. The institute systematised professional training for nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists to ensure that our staff can continuously learn the latest clinical knowledge. The training covered common drugs and precautions, Certification of Instructor Course on Nordic Pole Walking, Certification Course of DementiAbility Methods: The Montessori WayTM, among others.
Overseas exchange programmes were organised by the Welfare Council for over 200 professional staff members, including Japan, the Greater Bay Area, Taiwan, Singapore and South Korea etc. These exchanges were aimed at exploring diverse social service policies and innovations, with the goal of integrating these insights into the Council's service units to continually enhance service quality.
The Staff Welfare Committee regularly organises social, recreational and sporting activities for staff and their families, and offers various retail discounts, promoting physical and mental well-being and fostering camaraderie among staff, while strengthening their sense of belonging to the Welfare Council.
