The volunteer Kam Wah who joined the "Tung Chung Community Mutual Aid Program" of Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Tung Chung Integrated Services - Employment Service said, "During the pandemic, I couldn't find a job and instead of staying idle at home, I decided to participate in volunteer service to give back to society. At first, I only had the mindset of being a 'helping hand' as a social worker. But then, I realized that each activity was helping more than ten families with their meals, and that ignited a sense of mission within me. I became more actively involved and hoped that the program host would feel our sincerity and continue to donate vegetables and fruits."

The oldest gold medal recipient at the 2019 "Outstanding Volunteer Commendation Ceremony" was Grandma Chiu, a resident of the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Tseung Kwan O Aged Care Complex. She said, "If God grants me good health, I will use it wisely and continue to help others in need, doing what I should do!"

Staff member of the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Western District Elderly Integrated Services Centre's "Volunteer Doctors Companion": "It's not just the elderly in Peng Chau who benefit from the volunteer service. Social workers, volunteer doctors, volunteers, and the elderly themselves also gain valuable knowledge and experience from each other. We learn different medical and health management knowledge from volunteer doctors, young volunteers learn to care for the elderly from their parents, young people gain insights into the life experiences of the older generation, and social workers learn how to continuously improve services through cross-sector collaboration."
