Between 12th March and 5th May, 2016, the Welfare Council conducted its Charity Raffle 2016. The Sheng Kung Hui province, churches, schools, social service units and supporting organisations once again showed enthusiastic support, paving the way for the smooth execution of the event. To raise public awareness towards the Welfare Council and its charity raffle, for the first time, it set up 12 booths at MTR stations and malls to sell raffle tickets and achieved an ideal response. The Charity Raffle 2016 raised some HK$4 million, which would go to the Welfare Council’s social support services, including Project "Act of Love", counselling services, the S.K.H. Stroke Rehabilitation Charity Fund, as well as other innovative services and community education schemes.
On 6th May, 2016, the Welfare Council conducted the raffle draw at the Good Kitchen. A total of 61 prizes were drawn under the witnesses of the draw included the Rt Revd Dr Timothy Kwok, Bishop of the H.K.S.K.H. Diocese of Eastern Kowloon, Mr Lo Kin-ming, Hon. Treasurer of the Welfare Council Board of Directors, consultants for the Charity Raffle 2016, representatives from sponsors, an auditor and service users of the Kei Oi Neighbourhood Elderly Centre, with the top prize being a HK104,999-worth KIA Morning LX sponsored by Kia Motors (Hong Kong) Ltd. The Welfare Council also presented Sheng Kung Hui secondary schools, primary schools and kindergartens, as well as churches from the Hong Kong Island, Eastern and Western Kowloon Dioceses who raised the most funds with “Most Caring Awards” as a token of appreciation for their efforts.
