HKMU SAO - "Me&U Community Caring Programme" - “MEETING US” ELDERLY CARING TEAM
Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Lok Man Alice Kwok Integrated Service Centre, in collaboration with the Student Affairs Office of the Hong Kong Metropolitan University through the "Me&U Community Caring Programme", saw 12 university students form the “MEETING US” ELDERLY CARING TEAM. Through home visits and cooking activities, they documented the most representative family recipes of 5 elderly members of the centre, along with the life stories behind them.   The students not only recreated these delicious dishes with the elderly, but also compiled them into "Eight Flavours of Life" cookbook, and designed games to reminisce with the elderly, promoting intergenerational exchange. The results of the project were showcased at the cookbook launch event, where the elderly enjoyed tasting the food and participating in the games, while also feeling the care and respect of the younger generation.

"SmartConnect" Programme
The Welfare Council received funding from the SIE Fund and initiated the "SmartConnect" Programme in October 2021, lasting 27 months. The program aims to empower the elderly in learning and utilizing information technology, boosting their confidence. It also encourages intergenerational collaboration in using digital technology to solve everyday issues, fostering understanding and community participation, and promoting digital inclusion across generations.   The program held a results-sharing session in December 2023. From the pre-and post-test data, it was evident that the program effectively enhanced the elderly's trust and confidence in digital technology, significantly improving their attitude and confidence in using information technology. Through intergenerational collaboration, the program effectively broke down preconceptions between both parties, greatly promoting intergenerational communication and integration.
